It can be occurs when: The path which was defined for zookeeper.chroot not used on zookeeper URL For example on Cloudera Manager: If it is defined as empty, then <zookeeper_server>:2181 will be enough. But if any path detected there, <zookeeper_server>/<defined_path>:2181 should be used.
